10 Week Internship, Summer 2026
Role Summary:
Flowserve Corporation, a leading manufacturer and aftermarket service provider of comprehensive flow‑management products and services, has an exciting opportunity for a Project Application Engineer Intern in Chesapeake, VA. This role provides exposure to all facets of the organization. As part of the broader Project Engineering function, the intern will support scheduling activities, resource alignment, and technical tasks associated with engineering projects. Responsibilities may include coordinating vendor interactions, tracking project progress, and helping ensure projects meet planned requirements for quality and execution. The ideal candidate is a Mechanical Engineering major who has completed junior year and is on track to graduate in May 2027.
Responsibilities:
Reviews complete technical documentation package to validate product performance against customer requirements and suggests modifications where requiredDevelops completed bill of materials, general arrangement drawings, and other technical documentation for all “build-to-order” and “configure-to-order” products as required to release order to productionSelects components and assemblies to ensure compliance with project specifications, including mechanical seals, seal auxiliary systems, drivers and other specified componentsPrepares project plans in accordance with customer/contract requirementsPrepares and releases technical job documentationMeets project timelines for engineering documentation and gathers approval at the first issueEnsures customer satisfaction, accuracy and timeliness of customer documentationProvides rework or resubmittal documentation in agreed-upon cycles to obtain approvalsRequirements:
Current college junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Local to Chesapeake, VA for summer 2026
Engineering documentation, drafting, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
Effective oral and written communication
Collaborative interpersonal skills
Project management tools, methods and applications
Accountability and execution for completing work timely and to specification
Preferred:
Previous work experience or internships in manufacturing or industrial settingLeadership roles on campus or in high school
