Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. The Mechanical Engineering group is hiring for an Engineering Designer – Level 4 in our Mechanical Engineering team within the Launch Vehicles Business Unit at our Chandler, AZ facility.

Essential Functions:

Work within the Northrop Grumman Design group and will be responsible for creating drawing/design packages with proper content and to ensuring compliance with applicable industry and military standardsReview designs for fit, function, manufacturability, economy of fabrication, and verifying completed work, checking dimensions, materials, and quantities to be usedReview of tolerance analysis, hardware selection, and fitment on assembly printsCalled upon to resolve interpretation issues on drawingsVerifying 3D models submitted to manufacturing utilizing Siemens NX 1946 managed with TeamcenterResponsibility will further include liaison with various engineering disciplines, Manufacturing, and QualitySome vendor liaison will be required as wellAs requested may supervise, and direct the activities of staffModeling fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Siemens NX 1946 managed with Teamcenter, and create/revise parametric drawings in conformance with ASME modeling and drawing standardsKnowledge of Word, Excel, Windows, and NX 1946 as requiredGood communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work quickly and accurately while under schedule pressure and exhibit a large degree of patienceStrong time management and organizational skills

Basic Qualifications for Engineering Designer – Level 3 :

Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3 years of related engineering design experience, or a PhD with 1 years of related engineering design experience, or High School diploma or equivalent and 9 years additional education and/or related experienceAbility to obtain DoD Secret security clearanceMust be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerancingMust be experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1Must have knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operationsMust be experienced with Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter

Basic Qualifications for Engineering Designer – Level 4 :

Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related engineering design experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related engineering design experience, or a PhD with 4 years of related engineering design experience, or High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years additional education and/or related experienceAbility to obtain DoD Secret security clearanceMust be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerancingMust be experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1Must have knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operationsMust be experienced with Siemens NX 1946 and TeamcenterAbility to work independently as well as in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) CAD modeling in manufacturing environment

Master’s in STEMActive DOD Secret Security clearance, or higherASME Y14.5-2009ASM GDTP CertificationAWS CWI certificationExperience working with DoD programsWorking knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Mil-Standard 100

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
