Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Quality Engineer or Principal Quality Engineer with experience in quality, manufacturing, or inventory to join our team in Sykesville, MD.

Role and Responsibilities:

This position supports Programs in a Program Quality Engineer role, with responsibility for the overall program quality over the lifecycle of the program. The primary responsibilities across this lifecycle include:  

Developing and Supporting Program proposal activities

Developing and implementing the Program Quality Plan

Planning/establishing the baseline for the Program quality scope

Reviewing and comprehending contractual requirements

Supporting execution of the Program’s procurement, manufacturing, and test plans

Monitoring and control of both supplier and manufacturing performance

Generating First Article Inspections (FAI’s) and working with the customer for approval

Supporting program deliveries, including customer source inspections

Coordinating CAR and SCAR responses

Leading and or facilitating Sentinel support for programs

Identifying and generating REAs for drawing/PL improvements/issues

CAM responsibilities (monthly EAC/CEAC, manage charge codes)

Leading Root Cause Corrective Actions for the program

Driving and supporting Continuous Improvement (CI) activities

Establishing good working relationships with customers and government representatives to facilitate demonstration of conformance to requirements of the finished work products

Auditing quality systems for deficiency identification and correction

Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

Bachelor's of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field to include quality, engineering and/or manufacturing with 2 years of relevant experience

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

US Citizenship Required

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

Bachelor's of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field to include quality, engineering and/or manufacturing with 5 years of relevant experience; OR 3 years of quality, engineering and/or manufacturing with a Master's degree

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

US Citizenship Required

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience dispositioning hardware for quality related issues in a manufacturing facility

Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques

Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) process

Experience with SAP Quality Notifications, Production Orders and Purchase Orders

Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI)

Experience in support of proposals and quoting of Quality hours in bids

Experience with CAM responsibilities and/or experience with Earned Value and budgeting

Experience using Microsoft Excel, Tableau or equivalent tools for data analysis

Familiarity with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications

IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) and/or MIL-STD-883 Certified

Familiarity with IPC-WHMA-A-620 and IPC-J-STD-001

Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma

Active Security Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
