Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Engineer/Principal Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Support day-to-day EHS activities including incident reporting and investigations, safety observations, ergonomic assessments, inspections, corrective action tracking, and employee engagement efforts.
Work under the guidance of senior EHS staff to gain practical experience in regulatory compliance, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow professionally in a developing EHS environment.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
Engineer EHS: Bachelor of Science degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an EHS role; or a Master of Science degree in the same disciplines with zero (0) years of relevant experience.
Principal Engineer EHS: Bachelor of Science degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in an EHS role; or a Master of Science degree in the same discipline with three (3) years of relevant experience; or a PhD in the same discipline with one (1) year of experience.
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Early career EHS experience, internship, co-op, or coursework exposure in a general industry, laboratory, R&D, or manufacturing-adjacent environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to perform assigned job duties with general direction and supervision, and to apply foundational safety principles to support problem-solving and risk mitigation.
Demonstrated ability to analyze issues and seek information from multiple sources, showing curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
Exposure to EHS activities such as inspections, safety observations, PPE assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), or incident investigations.
Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Interest in supporting EHS program development, including procedures, training materials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working knowledge of environmental compliance programs such as Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), hazardous waste management, and environmental permitting.
Exposure to environmental inspections, recordkeeping, or reporting activities under federal, state, or local environmental regulations.
Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
