Engineer I (Grid Automation)

Responsible for working with electric utility Telecommunications and Transmission Engineering staff to support the specification and/or installation of communications media for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), metering and voice dispatch facilities in utility sites across an eleven-state service area.

Job Description

Candidate will work with planners, project managers, engineers, inspectors, field operations supervisors, field technicians, external providers and interconnected transmission customers.Works with field personnel to commission telecommunications media into utility sites and a general working knowledge of SCADA systems and RTU equipment.Provides technical and administrative support for utility interconnection agreements and/or telecommunications service agreements, including technical information for agreement creation and resolution of invoicing and accounting issues.Performs analysis to determine appropriate media (telco, wireless, fiber, VSAT ) for telecommunications service into utility sites; performing path studies to determine feasibility of radio connectivity into utility sites; implementing appropriate media for telecommunications service into utility sites; and specifying and procuring telecommunications materials per standard designs, including outdoor enclosures, communication and power cable, terminal blocks, power supplies, loopback equipment, ground potential rise isolation equipment, IP networking devices, wireless equipment, VSAT and other items as required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $35.10/hr.
