Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an excellent opportunity for an Engineer Hardware – Site Engineer (25-426) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this position plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not offer relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

Responsibilities include analyzing hardware characteristics and comparing them against design requirements, preparing and reviewing rack-level and site drawings and plans, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) working-level counterparts. The successful candidate will work as part of a focused, small team, interfacing with peer-level team members and NT management to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and within available resources. Some travel may be required to support site surveys and installations as needed.

Essential Functions:

Recent experience and skills using MS Visio to design rack layouts, as well as preparing and reviewing diagrams and technical drawingsEarly-to-mid-career hardware and systems engineering experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredAbility to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findingsCapable of implementing engineering plans within a projectA successful candidate will possess knowledge of systems and hardware engineering concepts, principles, and techniquesFamiliarity with drafting practices and DoD drawing requirementsCandidate should also be familiar with standard rack-mounted computing equipment (servers and workstations), networking equipment, and cable selection for interconnection and powering of selected computing hardwareThe candidate should demonstrate the ability to resolve tasks with minimal guidance

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM Computer Science, Science, Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degreeApplicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to startWillingness and ability to travel up to 10% to support business needs at CONUS and OCONUS sitesRequired skill areas include familiarity with analyzing hardware requirements and supporting or performing related analyses, such as heat, weight, and powerCandidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of networking concepts, including routers, switches, and firewallsThe ideal candidate would have experience with Juniper hardware

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
