Role Overview

As an Engineer in REPS Engineering’s Product Engineering team, this role primarily focuses on collaborating with the Sales and A&I teams to deliver customized engineering solutions (PVR/DTOs) for special customer requirements and to address Unmet Customer Needs (UCNs).

In addition, the role leads engineering support for genset manufacturing plants (AEC / Hosur) for both regular and PVR/DTO order execution. The incumbent applies strong mechanical engineering expertise to deliver effective technical solutions, improving engineering efficiency while ensuring best‑in‑class product availability, reliability, and continuous improvement across the REPS portfolio.

 

Roles & Responsibilities.

Safety & Compliance
• Drive a zero‑incident safety culture through proactive risk identification and mitigation
• Ensure 100% completion of mandatory compliance and learning requirements
• Maintain accurate and timely engineering and regulatory reporting

Product Engineering & Execution
• Deliver PVR/DTO engineering solutions that meet special customer requirements and UCNs
• Ensure 100% product compliance through effective design reviews, validation, and documentation control
• Support regular and PVR/DTO order execution for genset manufacturing plants (AEC / Hosur)

Operational Excellence
• Lead APS PVR process improvements aligned with APQP and quality strategies
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for design and process issues
• Standardize engineering practices, deliverables, and documentation to enhance quality and efficiency

Customer Responsiveness & Delivery
• Meet defined inquiry and order velocity targets based on complexity
• Lead complex, business‑critical customer inquiries from concept development through detailed design
• Collaborate with Sales and A&I teams to deliver timely, technically sound solutions

Manufacturing & KPI Alignment
• Align engineering deliverables with factory KPIs including SOL, RTS, OPD, and order quality
• Support manufacturing teams in resolving engineering and execution‑related issues
 

Sustainability & Technical Excellence
• Develop sustainable product designs considering operating conditions, serviceability, and lifecycle performance
• Perform electrical and mechanical calculations, including alternator sizing and ambient condition validation
• Establish engineering checklists to ensure complete technical readiness prior to order release

Collaboration & Capability Building
• Collaborate with NPI and Regional Engineering teams on validation testing & proto builds
• Resolve PVR and field issues through cross‑regional engineering support
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team learning, knowledge sharing, and capability development

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Strong understanding of genset systems and product engineering
• Experience in PVR/DTO engineering and customer‑specific solutions
• Knowledge of APQP, product compliance, and design validation processes
• Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, multi‑stakeholder environments

Desired Qualifications

• Working knowledge of all engineering tools and techniques used for genset design and development
• Understanding of regulatory compliance and certification requirements for genset products in global markets
• Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
• Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean methodologies for process and product improvement
• Experience working in a global engineering environment with cross‑cultural teams
