Job Description

Job Purpose

The Storage Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining availability and high-performance of all disk storage and SAN switch non-production, and production environments. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and supports other storage engineering and operations teams. Additionally, the Storage Administrator participates in root cause analysis of problems, identifies areas for process improvement, remediates issues, and executes tasks to deliver on project-based initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

Provide first level support for all disk storage related issues across the enterprise Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment Provide support to, and coordinate with, storage engineers, operations staff, and end-users Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions Participate as a resource for project driven initiatives Identification and automation of manual tasks using scripting and application development

Knowledge and Experience

Mid-level experience with a variety of disk storage subsystems and SAN switches including Hitachi, EMC, NetApp, Cisco, Brocade and more. Disk Storage configuration management experienceAutomation tools Good English speaking and writing skillsTop-tier critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment Project Management, organization, and time management Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience Able to communicate effectively with both technical and business resources 

Preferred, but not required

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Storage Engineering Exposure to and familiarity with Disk Storage vendor tools Knowledge of scripting languages for possible automation opportunities
