**DESCRIPTION**
Job Summary
A customer-focused individual contributor who demonstrates proficiency in performing **complex diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds** on multiple engine and power generation products, primarily at customer sites, with minimal supervision. The role supports **marine customers** and may provide technical guidance, coaching, and work direction to less experienced technicians while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Customer & Field Service Delivery
+ Establish and continuously develop productive customer relationships by providing prompt, efficient, and professional service support.
+ Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds on marine engines and related systems at customer sites.
+ Translate customer complaints into structured troubleshooting plans using guided workflows, service publications, and specialized diagnostic tools.
+ Validate repairs by duplicating and resolving reported issues and ensuring customer acceptance.
+ Identify and communicate additional service and sales opportunities during customer interactions.
Diagnostics, Repair & Maintenance
+ Apply specialized mechanical and electronic service tools, diagnostic software, and Cummins/OEM service documentation to isolate and repair failures.
+ Perform preventive maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engines and related components.
+ Analyze interactions of engine systems including fuel, exhaust, cooling, aftertreatment, electrical, controls, and sensors.
+ Disassemble and assemble engines or generators following Cummins guidelines to ensure quality, safety, and cleanliness.
+ Inspect, repair, or replace components per reuse and progressive damage guidelines to minimize customer cost of ownership.
Technical Escalation & Knowledge Sharing
+ Escalate unresolved or complex technical issues to product specialists or supervisors using established escalation processes.
+ Capture and document troubleshooting steps and technical findings to ensure continuity and timely resolution.
+ Coach, mentor, and develop technicians or apprentices; transfer technical knowledge and best practices.
+ May review repair plans, parts lists, and provide work direction to support team effectiveness.
Documentation & Compliance
+ Complete required service documentation including service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality records using business systems or manual forms.
+ Maintain accurate customer, equipment, and service history records in service management systems.
+ Ensure strict adherence to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and legislation.
+ Report all safety incidents, hazards, or non-compliances to site management and supervisors.
+ Maintain service vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
Continuous Development
+ Complete technical, safety, and product training in line with skill progression and business requirements.
+ Actively seek opportunities for self-development and continuous improvement.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Qualifications**
+ Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (preferred).
+ Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
+ Locally valid driving permit.
+ This position may require licensing or authorization for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

+ Strong experience with **marine engines** ; exposure to Cummins engines or generators preferred.
+ Expert-level knowledge of engine diagnostics, repair, overhaul, and maintenance.
+ Proficiency in using electronic service tools, diagnostic software, and mechanical service equipment.
+ Ability to interpret complex interactions between mechanical and electrical engine systems.
+ Strong service documentation and reporting skills.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Experience**
+ Significant field service experience, preferably in **marine engine applications** .
+ Mandatory experience working directly with marine customers.
+ Expert-level experience with engine products and systems.
+ Proven customer service experience in field-based environments.
+ Experience providing technical guidance and coaching to junior technicians is preferred.
