We are currently seeking an experienced Employee Engagement Manager to work closely with the Directors Office in Human Resources and City leadership to make the City of Norfolk a great place to work! The Employee Engagement Manager will coordinate various employee engagement initiatives. The incumbent will coordinate and develop programs, events, trainings, and strategies related to reward, recognition, and wellness. The Employee Engagement Manager will act in a lead role to coordinate training initiatives designed to enhance the competencies and skills of employees to result in improved performance and engagement throughout the City. This position plays a vital role in serving as a “people ambassador” by providing an informative, respectful, and welcoming experience for all City of Norfolk employees. We are seeking someone passionate about workplace wellness and fostering a work environment that is consistent with the City’s company culture. The ideal candidate will work well under pressure, demonstrate active listening skills, and exhibit high organizational skills with a customer-oriented focus. Essential Functions Essential functions include but are not limited to: + Develops and coordinates employee engagement initiatives, rewards, and recognition programs. + Leverages internal communication tools to promote employee awareness and participation in City-sponsored programs. + Works collaboratively with Communications, Organizational Development, and Benefits teams. + Researches, develops, delivers, and evaluates training and engagement efforts for the City. + Assists in the creation of a work environment consistent with the City of Norfolk’s culture. + Creates and implements innovative communication and change management strategies by working closely with City leaders in an advisory capacity. + Coordinates and oversees the employee engagement calendar. Coordinate logistics for internal and external engagement activities, meetings and events virtual or in-person including, scheduling, promoting, invitations, vendor management and communication. + Promotes initiatives such as employee referral bonus programs, wellness programs, and the tuition reimbursement program. + Evaluates the effectiveness of employee engagement programs through use of surveys and analyzing employee feedback. + Engages with the local Norfolk community and employees through social media by highlighting events, sharing successes, and promoting company culture. + Develops and implements years of service awards programs. + Builds partnerships and consults with key stakeholders and team members. + Performs related duties as assigned. Education/Experience Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Over five years' experience in specialty area required. If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction. + The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply.
