Join Emory Healthcare in a meaningful role where spiritual care, compassion, and clinical excellence come together as a Spiritual Health Resident supporting patients, families, and care teams. The one year Emory Healthcare Spiritual Health Residency is an ACPE-accredited clinical training program designed to prepare future professional chaplains through supervised spiritual care, reflective practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration within an academic healthcare setting. Our residency will consist of system-wide clinical assignments supporting multiple specialty areas at Emory University Hospital, Emory Midtown, Emory Decatur, Emory Long Term Acute Care, Emory Hillandale, Emory Johns Creek, Emory Winship Cancer Institute.
DescriptionPrimary duties and responsibilities: 1. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team in providing spiritual care to patients and families. 2. Participates in continuous collaboration with educator, team members and other health care professionals to promote environment of care, healing and professional development. 3. Learns by participating in reflection groups, individual consultation and didactics totaling at least 100 hours per unit. 4. Is responsible for leading worship services as required at each site. 5. Understands and complies with Spiritual Health and CPE policies, and applicable Emory Healthcare policies. This is a time limited position for one year.
Minimum Required Qualifications: One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education in a program credentialed by ACPE. MDiv or other Master's degree in theology or minimum education needed for board eligibility by Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or its strategic partners (NAJC, NACC, CASC/ACSS). Preferred Qualifications Ordination, license or endorsement by an acknowledged ecclesiastical body or specialized spiritual/philosophical/religious group preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
