Job Summary:
As a EMEA Technology Legal Associate in our Legal team, you will provide legal coverage across all LOBs in the areas of Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Outsourcing, Third-Party Risk Management, Cloud, Technology Transactions, and Emerging Technologies. The EMEA Technology & IP Legal team rolls up into Corporate Law via the Technology Legal Practice Group, with accountability locally to the EMEA General Counsel.
Job Responsibilities
Provide technology legal advice and counsel to internal clients (e.g., Global Technology (GT), business-aligned technology teams, Events/Marketing, Global Security, Global Business and Document Services, HR) and partners (e.g., Business coverage lawyers, Global Supplier Services, Corporate Third Party Oversight);Review, interpret and negotiate agreements with suppliers, advising clients and partners on rights and responsibilities related to those agreements, including compliance with JPMorganChase policies and regulatory requirements;Supporting global transactions with a focus on EMEA regulatory requirements, and handling regulatory remediation projects;Reviewing and analysing new regulations, in particular for Outsourcing, ICT, Cloud, and Technology Risk Management; Supporting business coverage lawyers on technology and intellectual property due diligence for M&A transactions, as well as drafting relevant sections of DD reports and advising on legal risk (with supervision from more senior members of the team); Ad-hoc advice on contract interpretation;Managing outside counsel for complex legal projects; and managing end-to-end negotiations, and navigating internal processes and coordination between the business, Legal, and other subject matter experts to reach timely and successful execution of agreements;Helping drive the Legal Department’s strategic agenda and actively participate in the Legal Department’s people initiatives, template production and management, matter management.Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
Qualified lawyer with minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience; Experience in structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts involving technology, with a solid grasp of the key technology and data issues presented; Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills. strong analytic skills and ability to distill large bodies of information into key messages for business stakeholders and ability to analyze novel scenarios with limited precedent, perform self-guided research and offer creative and practical solutions to complex business challenges.Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
Strong preference for experience with technology, outsourcing, and general third party commercial contracting/ transactional matters;Qualification from a common law jurisdiction preferred; Good understanding and familiarity with current legal and regulatory requirements relating to some or all of technology risk, outsourcing, offshoring, intellectual property, and related legal and regulatory environments desirable; Candidate should ideally have trained at and previously worked for a large corporate law firm with post-qualification experience in the commercial, technology, media and telecommunications or equivalent practice;
