Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapons has an opening for a Principal/Sr Principal Embedded Software Engineer (Product Owner) with an active clearance, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

 

The selected candidate for this position is required to be on-site in one of the following locations based on preference. Northridge, CA, Linthicum, MD, or Tuscan Az. Salaries ranges are listed specific to location at the bottom. Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

 

The engineer reports to the program software IPT lead and is responsible for leading multiple software teams for development activities.

 

As an integral part of our multi-discipline engineering team in Advanced Weapons, you will be on the forefront of developing next generation solutions to protect technology for our nation’s warfighters. The ideal candidate will be supporting one of our programs for defining and architecting a secured missile weapon system. This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects within the organization for security architecture designs as well as external partners and customers.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

·       Backlog Management: Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring it reflects the current needs and priorities of the project. Write clear and concise user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team.

·       Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between the development team and stakeholders, including customers, management, and other departments. Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine the product requirements.

·       Sprint Planning and Review: Participate in sprint planning meetings to help the team understand the product backlog items and their priorities. Review completed work to ensure it meets the acceptance criteria and provides the desired value.

·       Technical Guidance: Leverage technical expertise to provide guidance and insights to the development team, ensuring that technical decisions align with the product vision. Help resolve technical challenges and support the team in implementing solutions efficiently.

·       Promote a collaborative environment between different disciplines and organizations resulting in teams that can effectively solve problems as the arise and proactively prevent things from becoming issues.

 

Basic qualifications for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer (Product Owner) level (T03): 

·       Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.

·       Product Owner or similar role experience with responsibilities for product vision, backlog management, and stakeholder communication using Agile methodologies and practices, including Scrum or Kanban

·       Proficiency in using Jira for tracking tickets, managing the product backlog, and facilitating Agile workflows.

·       Experience with other project management and collaboration tools

·       Experience in embedded real-time software development, with a focus on embedded C++ and VxWorks.

·       Current US Government Secret Security clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years

 

 Basic qualifications for a Sr Principal Embedded Software Engineer (Product Owner) level (T04): 

·       Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.

·       Product Owner or similar role experience with responsibilities for product vision, backlog management, and stakeholder communication using Agile methodologies and practices, including Scrum or Kanban

·       Proficiency in using Jira for tracking tickets, managing the product backlog, and facilitating Agile workflows.

·       Experience with other project management and collaboration tools

·       Experience in embedded real-time software development, with a focus on embedded C++ and VxWorks.

·       Current US Government Secret Security clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Clearable to Special Access Program (SAP)

·       Experience with complex issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders.

·       Experience with Flight Software.

·       Extensive experience with software and system architecture.

Tucson, Az Salary Level 3: 95,300.00 - 142,900.00

Tucson, Az Salary Level 4: 118,600.00 - 178,000.00

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
