This is a position for a software engineer to develop Telematics on-board monitoring software for Caterpillar machine & engine applications. The candidate’s duties will include but are not limited to: developing, configuring, and testing Telematics on-board software using C++ in Linux; troubleshooting and correcting software issues; and reporting development status. This position involves working closely with Telematics systems engineers, and other software development teams. **What You Will Do** : • Gathering and analyzing user/client requirements to create the software requirements specification (SRS) document. • Writing and implementing source codes of embedded systems and enhancing code samples of existing systems. • Testing and debugging embedded system software using different tools/methods available to improve code quality and optimize system performance. • Collaborating with other teams to provide post production support. • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science curriculum. **What You Will Have:** Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation. **Top Candidates Will Have:** • Experience using scripting languages (e.g., Python). • Experience with Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, SSL. • Experience with CAN/J1939 protocols. • Experience using real-time operating systems and object-oriented design patterns. • Solid work experience with C++ and Linux. • Experience using debugging tools for embedded systems (e.g. Lauterbach, GDB, Wireshark) • Advanced degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum **Additional Details:** • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office. • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. • Visa sponsorship is available for this position. • 10% or less travel is required for this role \#LI **Summary Pay Range:** $97,530.00 - $146,290.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
