Job Summary:•\tThe Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for analysis, design, development, debugging and modification of embedded control software for electronics applications such as controllers, PFC based 3-phase Active Rectifiers, Motor Control, DC-DC Convertors and AC Drives for harsh and hazardous environments for the commercial aerospace and aviation products.•\tThe Sr. Engineer, Software will take ownership and/or support technical engineering teams and projects related to our System Components. Using sound engineering principles, this engineer will interface with cross functional groups (internal and external) to ensure robust, airworthy designs are attained which meet budget, schedule and internal requirements and goals. This leadership position will be responsible for participating in and leading improvement activities at a group and/or company levelEssential Duties and Responsibilities:•\tDesign and implement advanced control algorithms for power electronic applications•\tDevelop control system software requirements to write embedded code for 3-phase Active Rectifier, Motor Control electronics•\tContributes to system design and independently develops subsystem designs that meet the requirements. Considers tradeoffs between requirements, cost and reliability in the choice of a design approach•\tTest/debug power electronics controllers, Source and assembly level debugging •\tOptimize software performance by working with control system engineers•\tWork with suppliers to review control software design.•\tLead or support software design review activities. Interface with vendors, customers and other departments on technical issues•\tIndependently owns, or leads a team for small/medium size software development. •\tReviews, checks and approves work done by peers and lower level engineers. •\tProvides guidance and training to lower level engineers. •\tAssesses standard work and support or lead improvement projects. •\tUnderstands how various groups (engineering, industrialization, operations) work together and is able to navigate through the company.•\tAnalyze customer requirements and validate them by analysis/modeling/prototyping or based on existing product performance•\tCreate software requirements specification and hardware/software interface control documents•\tCreate verification plan for validating product compliance to requirements•\tAble to interface independently with technical analysts to define the software design•\tAble to interface independently with existing and/or new suppliers and OEMs •\tCreates design tools to help define the product design, capture lessons learned and improve rotating equipment development process•\tCreates software design document that covers design analysis, notes, and specific guidelines followed•\tCreate design verification test procedure (DVTP) and report (DVTR)•\tPerform product performance testing and analysis to ensure that requirements are met and generate test reports•\tIndependently finds or creates solutions to problems requiring research, resourcefulness and creativity•\tSupports feasibility, development, validation, verification, and qualification testing at Monogram and at external test laboratories.•\tUtilizes sound technical problem solving to support ongoing projects •\tFollows sound engineering principles to ensure designs meet airworthiness standards, customer requirements and our internal standards•\tReviews critically and presents findings and trade studies•\tProvides input to program and project managers•\tPerform RTCA/DO-178 based process tasks and generate PSAC, SDP, SVP, SCMP, SQAP, SCI, and SAS documents•\tUnderstands, follows, and promotes, our policies and procedures•\tProcess engineering changes in the development of water and waste systems and equipment•\tDocuments findings and trade studies•\tOther duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:•\tBachelors or Masters Degree in electrical or computer engineering from a recognized ABET accredited institution or equivalent•\t5+ years of software design experience in aerospace industry with RTCA/DO-178B •\tHands on programming skills in programming languages such as C/C++, VHDL/Verilog and/or scripting languages such as Perl/Python or Power Shell•\tKnowledge in embedded systems architecture and programming•\tProgramming skills in LabVIEW•\tProgramming skills for developing firmware on TMS320F28XX DSP, PIC16XX, MC68XXX or X86 DSPs/Microcontrollers •\tAnalytical – Knowledge and understanding of active rectifiers, PFC, inverter and motor control software design.•\tDesign – Design knowledge of CAN, ARIN429, I2C, SPI, RS232 software modules •\tTechnical Skills – Ability to use electrical circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and system level simulation tools such as PSIM/MATLAB/Simulink.•\tInterpersonal Skills – Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Ability to communicate and ability to work in a team environment. Remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things.•\tHands on experience of using electronics equipment such as programmable power supplies, high speed digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers etc.•\tDesign & develop instrumentation capabilities for product electrical parameter characterization and validation•\tDesign level understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, ARINC, SPI, RS-232 etc.•\tExperience in aerospace regulations such as RTCA/DO-160/D0-178 and RTCA/DO-254 guidelines•\tKnowledge in major aerospace OEM electronics design guidelines•\tPossess a strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Ability to communicate, ability to work in a team environment. Ability to provide leadership to other members of the engineering team•\tExperience in using design/simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink etc.

This is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
