PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in aerospace, to hire an experienced Electronics Technician to support the C-17 aircraft program in San Antonio, Texas. This role is ideal for an avionics professional who thrives in complex environments and wants to support aircraft that play a vital role in global mobility and defense missions.
The Role & Its ImpactAs an Electronics Technician, you’ll apply advanced technical expertise to troubleshoot, test, and modify aircraft avionics systems—often solving problems that go beyond standard manuals. Your work will directly impact aircraft safety, mission readiness, and operational performance.
What You’ll Do Day to DayIn this role, you will:
Apply in-depth avionics knowledge to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and electronic issues
Perform bench and flight-line operational testing and troubleshooting in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, and company directives
Analyze circuits, calculate waveforms, and trace signal flow using advanced test equipment
Assemble, install, modify, and test wire bundles and avionics systems on aircraft
Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wire diagrams, blueprints, and work instructions
Perform check-out, operational testing, and modification activities to meet quality and performance standards
Use precision measuring instruments and tools to verify conformance to specifications
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety, quality, and operating procedures
Assist with training and mentoring less senior technicians
Lead or support teams through complex avionics tasks as required
Coordinate with management and peers to determine best work practices
Support cross-functional teams (Structures, General Mechanics, Electrics) to meet cost and schedule goals
Maintain certifications, licenses, and permits required for assigned work
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED
4+ years of related avionics or electronics experience, or equivalent education/experience
Experience working with C-17 or other heavy aircraft platforms
Hands-on experience with aircraft avionics systems (Comm/Nav, data links, radar, weapons systems)
4+ years of experience interpreting schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs
3+ years of experience with aircraft computer systems and basic office software
Knowledge of hazardous energy and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as mission needs require
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience supporting C-17 modification programs
Experience with COMSEC, radar, or electronic warfare systems
Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, or powered elevating equipment
Strong leadership skills with experience guiding teams through complex tasks

Pay Details: $43.05 per hour
