Job Purpose:
This position is responsible to provide “end to end” technical solution and expertise for the
concept design, detailing, development and validation of the engine electrical systems. And
additionally, be responsible to provide support the NPI, CPI and maintenance activities on past,
current and future Caterpillar products.
As an electrical design engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn from and contribute to a
cooperative team in the design of new global products and processes.
Job Duties:
• Collect customer needs and transfer the customer voice to be technical requirements
• Develop electrical system & subsystem concepts on block diagrams and have technical
review with team to finalize the system design, and subsystem & key components selection
• Provide the feedback on the electrical function, pin out definition, function safety status,
according to the electronics software requests
• Design the 3D installation on the engine model, including the harness routing through the tool
Creo and release the 2D drawings into system, after the final concept review with each
function teams
• Conduct APQP activities with internal and external partners
• Conduct the technical support on the electrical system during the engine building phase
• Resolve complex manufacturing issues before and after production
• Support the team on electrical system NPI, CPI, cost reduction and maintenance
• Refines and improves product designs by conducting investigations and developing solutions.
• Selecting the most appropriate tools and techniques for a project and collaborating with
people for technical communication and documentation.
• Work with suppliers to resolve supplier design & quality issues
Background/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or above in electrical engineering or equivalent engineering
• Work experience on electrical system, schematics, architecture, harness routing machine /
engine subsystem
• 3D drawing design tool, like Pro/E/Creo
• Excellent in problem analysis and solving skill
• Continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology
• Creative, keep interest in taking challenge and pressure
• Diligent, proactive, self-motived and open-minded
• Good English both verbal and written and good communication skills
• Strong initiative, communication, interpersonal, teamwork skills.
Desired qualifications:
• Knowledge of the development process & tools (such as NPI, APQP, DVP&R etc.)
• Machine / Engine subsystem validation experience
• Excellent troubleshooting capability on the electrical system
• Willing to support factories/end customers to resolve issues
• Generator-set control box E&E design experience
