Job Summary
Eaton Corporation’s Industrial Controls Division (ICD) has an opening for a Senior Electronic Engineer, located in Santo Domingo, DR. This position will reside in the Santo Domingo Design Center building, which located in the center of the city right next to top local engineering university INTEC and includes design engineering, designers/drafter, lab technician and Industrialization PM personnel from ICD. The facility was built in 2022 and boasts an open office layout surrounded by large windows and ICD dedicated laboratory space and shared development labs. The building is shared with two divisions from the electrical sector including PDC and CRDS.
The qualified candidate will be in a senior role responsible for supporting the design, simulation, implementation and verification of electronics for the division’s next generation of industry leading products, as well as the re-design for the legacy product to keep them up to date with the latest technologies and components in order to keep the product up to date in the market. Primary product responsibility will be for motor protection and sensing, but there will also be support for variable frequency drives and reduced voltage starting devices. These products leverage digital, analog and power electronic circuitry as well as embedded micro-controllers and digital signal processors. The candidate will work with other team members driving new product development utilizing Eaton’s processes while leveraging state of the art tools. The candidate must possess an innovative mindset combined with relevant electrical design experience and the ability to drive all electrical design related aspects of a project to a successful completion.
Job Responsibilities
• Support electrical design aspects of product line support associated with major product line
• Support all aspects of electrical design related to new product development and product line extensions, following a stage-gate process
• Perform electrical design work (utilizing Altium or similar design tools) and electrical simulation (utilizing PSPICE or similar PC based simulation tools). Includes schematic design, PCB design, design reviews, prototyping bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, test plan creation, test plan execution, functional verification, signal characterization and manufacturing support.
• Understanding of simple firmware for microcontroller based products
• Work closely with PCB designer on circuit board layout to optimize component placement and layout for design intent and EMC requirements
• Work closely with Marketing to gather Voice of Customer and develop product specification
• Complete appropriate technical documentation for new product development and existing product support
• Perform and supervise testing to verify functional requirements and compliance to applicable standards
• Work with manufacturing, customers and suppliers to support needs of new and existing product
• Support engineering cost reductions in existing products
• Create breakdown of work required to complete complex tasks, including time and cost estimates
• Conduct failure analysis using proven DFSS/RedX methods to drive to the root cause of the problem. Work effectively with manufacturing, quality, field sales and end customer during both troubleshooting and resolution verification process.
Education level required
Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering from accredited institution
Years and area of experience required

Technical knowledge
