Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for a Electro-Optical Subsystem I&T Engineer to support the Glide Phase Interceptor Program within the Launch Vehicles business unit in Chandler, Arizona.
The Electro-Optical Subsystem I& T Engineer, as part of the Seeker IPT, will support multi-disciplinary team efforts to integrate and test development/flight hardware, ensuring performance at the subassembly and seeker system level. The team is responsible for the integration and testing of development/flight hardware, characterize and evaluate performance of hardware, development of the seeker test suite, maintaining and calibrating optical test equipment, and ensuring representative data captured in support of the development physics-based models. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with significantly diverse assignments and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Responsibilities:
Assist in creating and documenting test plans, procedures, and test cases based on system requirements and design specifications.Support the integration of hardware, software, and firmware components to ensure system functionality and interoperability.Participate in executing test procedures, collecting data, and verifying that system components meet performance and design requirements.Assist in identifying, isolating, and resolving technical issues during the integration and testing phases, under guidance from senior engineers.Collect and analyze test data to validate system performance, report findings, and provide feedback for system improvements.Contribute to the preparation of detailed test reports, including observations, test configurations, and results.Help prepare and maintain test environments, setups, and instrumentation, ensuring all hardware and software resources are ready for testing.Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including system engineers, design engineers, and project management, to align testing objectives with program goals.Perform basic compliance checks and ensure testing activities adhere to organizational and safety standards.Stay engaged in continuous technical learning and training to improve knowledge of integration and testing processes, tools, and methodologies.Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experienceMust have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scopeBasic knowledge of EO imaging systems ranging from the visible to LWIR spectrumUnderstanding in root cause and corrective action methodologiesPrefers to be hands-on and work with hardware.Prefers to work independently with minimal guidance.Self-motivated and meticulous with work.Experience with free space alignment tools: autocollimators, theodolites, laser setups, optical alignment techniquesPreferred Qualifications:
BS/MS in Optical Engineering or Physics preferredExperience with missile systems and associated standardsPrevious experience with DOD missile defense programsKnowledge of EO systems including optical design, analysis and tolerancing, error budgets, opto-mech, and focal plane technologies in seeker applicationsExperience taking radiometric measurements using spectroradiometers, cameras, detectors.Experience with Zemax, CodeV, or FREDExperience setting up experimental layouts using CAD software such as Solidworks, NX, or CreoExperience integrating hardware using LabVIEWProficiency with data analysis tools such as MATLAB or PythonPrimary Level Salary Range: $85,000.00 - $127,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
