About the Role:

The Oil & Gas industry has relied upon Caterpillar power for decades for the toughest drilling, gas compression, production, power generation and well service applications. The Electrician Operator operates machines and tools used in manufacturing processes and resolve electrical and mechanical problems, to achieve production targets.

Schedule: Thursday through Wednesday 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM (this may fluctuate with business demand)Sponsorship is not available for this positionThis role is based in Laurel, MontanaThis role does not offer relocationThis position requires working onsite five days a week

What You Will Do:

Performs routine component installations and maintenanceCooperate with other operators on the production line to ensure workflow stabilityReads and interprets mechanical and electrical blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machineryStart, stop, and load/unload engines in accordance with operating procedures and grid dispatch requirementsMonitor plant control systems (SCADA/DCS), gauges, and instrumentation to ensure parameters remain within limitsIdentify, troubleshoot, and respond to alarms, equipment malfunctions, and abnormal operating conditionsAddresses equipment failures, calibrates errors, and reports them to management in a timely mannerOperate and monitor natural gas reciprocating engines, generators, auxiliaries, and balance-of-plant systemsSets up and runs machines to implement manufacturing processes occasionally serving as the lead technicianDocument electrical operations, maintenance activities, and system readings in required logs and record books

Required Knowledge:

Working knowledge of reciprocating internal combustion engines, generators, and associated auxiliary systemsUnderstanding of natural gas fuel systems, combustion principles, and emissions controlsAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, one-line diagrams, operating procedures, and technical manualsFamiliarity with electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, and protective relays (operator-level)Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitudeAbility to follow written procedures and make sound operational decisions under pressureBasic computer skills for control systems, logging, and reporting

What Top Candidates Will Have:

5+ years of experience in power generation, industrial plant operations, or engine-driven facilities preferredExperience with natural gas reciprocating enginesCertifications and Licenses preferredOSHA safety training (LOTO, confined space, HAZCOM)Electrical switching or high-voltage safety training

Summary Pay Range:

$81,370.00 - $122,060.00
