**Job Description**
We are seeking a dedicated Electrician I or II to join our Facilities Management and Campus Services team. This role requires flexibility in working various shifts, including overtime and call-out work, and the ability to work outdoors in inclement conditions and safely handle sanitary waste. Standard shifts are Monday through Friday, rotating weekly, with 10-hour shifts offered for the 2nd and 3rd shifts.
**Responsibilities**
+ Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrically driven equipment, components, and general wiring, specifying wire and conduit sizes for accurate circuit protection (multi-phase, voltages up to 4160).
+ Install, maintain, and test switches, panels, and control devices applicable to plant installations.
+ Troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs).
+ Maintain and troubleshoot issues with electrical panels, ATS, and generators.
+ Repair, replace, and install LED lighting systems.
+ Operate utility vehicles and light trucks in support of assigned work.
+ Inspect and supervise system equipment operation.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Essential Skills**
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with other craft employees and manage challenging customer interactions.
+ Ability to work independently and decide when additional help is needed.
+ Proven understanding of the National Electrical Code and applicable City of Pittsburgh codes.
+ Ability to work efficiently and safely near electrical equipment at voltages up to 4,160 VAC using appropriate protective equipment.
+ Physical mobility to move and work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work from scaffolding and bucket truck platforms.
+ Ability to lift 40 pounds from ground to overhead and pass a physical exam for clearance to wear a respirator.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Electrician I: High School Diploma or GED, graduation from a technical school, trade school, or electrician apprenticeship program, valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, and a minimum of three years of recent full-time experience as a journeyman level electrician.
+ Electrician II: Requirements of Electrician I plus a minimum of four years of recent full-time experience as a journeyman level electrician, a current valid Electrician’s License issued by the City of Pittsburgh, and previous experience in a university or hospital setting preferred.
+ Membership or willingness to join Local #95, International Union of Operating Engineers.

**Work Environment**
This role is situated in a campus/university setting. Work involves traveling over a large campus with many hills and stairs. The position requires working in various environmental conditions and may include wearing protective gear. Employees undergo a probationary period rotating through all shops for the first 90 days, with shift assignments based on seniority thereafter. There are shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $78020.80 - $78020.80/yr.
Time Off:
• 11 Calendar Holidays - on website here.
• 3 Floating Holidays / Personal Days These are loaded on your anniversary date and must be utilized within the year.
• 3 paid time off days for winter break
• 2 weeks vacation + sick time
Parking: Not a benefit, 1st shift paid parking on site will run ~$160 per month. Reduced price for 2nd shift and parking is free for 3rd shift.
Shifts:
• Employees will be in a probationary period rotating through all shops for the first 90 days. After that they will bid into a shift based on seniority. For the first bid, they will be the least senior and get what is left over. That varies within each shop. Some very senior folks like 2nd and 3rd shift, however HVAC folks should be prepared to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift for a short duration until they move up in seniority. Electricians should be prepared to work 1st shift or 2nd shift (no electrician on 3rd shift).
• Shift differential - 2nd and 3rd shift receive an additional shift differential of $2.00 per hour.
• 10 hour shifts are offered for 2nd and 3rd shift (2:30pm to 12:30am)
• Standards shifts are: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am
Healthcare Benefits
• Health insurance is provided by CMU through Aetna for a specific L95 policy. Cost right now is about $525 per month, regardless of how many dependents.
• Dental / Vision is directly through the union
Retirement
• 8% CMU contribution is paid to the L95 Pension Fund for each employee. This is non-matching and is 8% above and beyond the hourly rate.
Tuition Benefits
• Staff members receive immediate tuition benefits.
• Dependent tuition benefits kick in after a 3 year vesting period. For children attending another institution the benefit is up to $10,614 per year for up to 2 kids.
