Lead Electro-Mechanical Technician
Job Description
This position is for a Lead Electro-Mechanical Technician within a metal manufacturing company. The role involves working on both manual and automated equipment across the facility. The primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment such as notching machines, sharpeners, welders, and more. The focus is on servicing, maintaining, and upgrading existing production equipment, as well as building new machinery.
Responsibilities
Identify problems and complete mechanical repairs for industrial production line equipment with minimal downtime and supervision.Perform electrical tasks including changing 1 HP motors, working with 24V DC controlled motors, and wiring equipment.Troubleshoot and perform electrical repairs for machine control circuits including PLCs, AC & DC motors, sensors, and cameras.Perform work on facility support equipment/building maintenance, including painting, floor care, electrical work, plumbing, and HVAC service.Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure work orders are complete and maintenance issues are logged.Communicate with production personnel, maintenance technicians, and engineering staff to identify problems and coordinate corrective measures.Perform periodic preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure safe, proper, and efficient function.Service, maintain, and assemble punch press dies and components.Analyze, install, and maintain water, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.Follow all safety policies and procedures and maintain a safe working environment.Essential Skills
5 years of lead experience in an industrial setting.Strong mechanical knowledge and skills, including the use of common hand tools.Ability to troubleshoot machine control circuits and understand drawings, diagrams, and schematics.Experience diagnosing motor failures and installing dual-voltage motors.Proficiency in using electrical test instrumentation such as multimeters and amp meters.Effective communication and problem-solving skills.Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions.Ability to work with 30% mechanical and 70% electrical tasks.Additional Skills & Qualifications
PLC and HMI troubleshooting and programming.Experience with automation maintenance and integration.Technical degree or certifications preferred.Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ISO standards.Proficiency in MS Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale Heights, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
