Electrical Engineering Co-Op

Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated and innovative Electrical Engineering Co-Op to join our collaborative hardware engineering team. In this hands-on role, you’ll gain experience across the full hardware development lifecycle while contributing to the design of advanced technologies used in commercial, defense, and intelligence applications. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team and gain exposure to real-world, ruggedized hardware systems.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Supporting the design, development, testing, and validation of complex electrical hardware and systems

Contributing to schematic design, layout support, design verification testing, system integration, and optimization of hardware designs

Designing and testing complex circuits or sub-modules using schematic capture tools such as Allegro Design Entry HDL and/or Mentor tools

Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Software, and Procurement

Supporting design-for-manufacturing (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), and design-for-test (DFT) initiatives

Assisting with lab activities including board bring-up, debugging, validation testing, and environmental testing (EMC, thermal, power, ESS)

Supporting production by investigating manufacturing issues and field failures

Drafting test plans, reports, Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and technical documentation

Supporting prototype material procurement, structuring Bills of Material (BoMs), and managing part lists

Assisting with the design of fixtures to support advanced manufacturing techniques

 

Required Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline A minimum GPA of 3.1 is required. You will be asked to submit your transcripts during the review process

Basic understanding of high-speed digital and analog circuitry, power management, and electromagnetic interference

Familiarity with electronic schematic design tools such as Allegro Design Entry HDL or Mentor Graphics tools

General knowledge of manufacturing techniques and hardware development processes

Experience or familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and soldering/rework tools

Strong organizational skills with clear verbal and written communication abilities

Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
