Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics Design)

Description

Job Responsibilities

•\tCreate and analyze technical requirements to determine the best technical solutions for embedded electronic systems.

•\tExecute microprocessor based embedded electronic designs with a strong focus on power electronics.

•\tAdapt electronic circuitry to vehicle and/or fixed equipment applications, including ruggedized OEM environments.

•\tPerform detailed worst case analog and digital circuit analysis, simulation, integration, and verification.

•\tExecute design work on high voltage and low voltage systems, including 3 phase DC DC converters (700–800V high voltage and 56V low voltage).

•\tSupport PCB level bring up, debugging, verification, and prototype development.

•\tCreate design documentation, analysis plans, and verification/validation plans for on site product testing.

•\tProvide hands on support in the lab for testing, troubleshooting, and prototyping.

•\tProvide on site technical support to manufacturing, quality, and supply management teams.

•\tParticipate as a key contributor within larger cross functional project teams, focusing on switch mode power conversion and inverter design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Requirements

•\tBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.

•\t1–5 years of experience in electrical design OR a Master’s degree with strong, relevant internship experience.

•\tExperience with:

o\tElectronic circuit design (analog, digital, and power electronics).

o\tMicroprocessor based embedded designs, software interactions, and mechanical packaging considerations.

o\tAdapting circuitry for vehicle or ruggedized fixed equipment applications.

o\tTesting, manufacturing processes, quality control, and product marketing requirements.

o\tMaking design decisions related to circuit architecture and component selection.

o\tDirecting engineers, interns, or technicians as needed.

o\tStrong written and verbal communication skills (English).

•\tStrong hands on lab skills, including use of oscilloscopes, meters, supplies, and debugging tools.

•\tAbility to work 100% onsite in Fargo, ND.

Experience That Will Make You Stand Out

•\tAdvanced degree specializing in power electronics (DC DC conversion, AC motor drives).

•\tExperience designing:

o\tInverters and DC DC converters for 12V/24V/48V systems.

o\tHigh voltage, isolated power systems up to 800V DC.

o\tBattery management systems (control boards, cell monitoring boards).

•\tFull product development lifecycle experience (concept → prototype → production).

•\tDesigning for harsh or ruggedized environmental specifications (common for OEM customers and off highway equipment).

•\tKnowledge of hybrid/electric vehicle electrical architectures.

•\tExperience with:

o\tMathCAD

o\tCircuit simulation tools

o\tSiemens/Mentor Graphics or similar schematic capture tools

o\tMicrocontroller or FPGA based designs

•\tExperience leading the electronic design function within a project team.

This is a Contract position based out of Fargo, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $44.00/hr.
