Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics Design)
Description Job Responsibilities • Create and analyze technical requirements to determine the best technical solutions for embedded electronic systems. • Execute microprocessor based embedded electronic designs with a strong focus on power electronics. • Adapt electronic circuitry to vehicle and/or fixed equipment applications, including ruggedized OEM environments. • Perform detailed worst case analog and digital circuit analysis, simulation, integration, and verification. • Execute design work on high voltage and low voltage systems, including 3 phase DC DC converters (700–800V high voltage and ~56V low voltage). • Support PCB level bring up, debugging, verification, and prototype development. • Create design documentation, analysis plans, and verification/validation plans for on site product testing. • Provide hands on support in the lab for testing, troubleshooting, and prototyping. • Provide on site technical support to manufacturing, quality, and supply management teams. • Participate as a key contributor within larger cross functional project teams, focusing on switch mode power conversion and inverter design. Skills Electrical design, Circuit design, part selection, high voltage, low voltage, embedded system, inverter design, battery management system design Top Skills Details Electrical design,Circuit design,part selection,high voltage,low voltage,embedded system Additional Skills & Qualifications Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. • 1–5 years of experience in electrical design OR a Master’s degree with strong, relevant internship experience. • Experience with: o Electronic circuit design (analog, digital, and power electronics). o Microprocessor based embedded designs, software interactions, and mechanical packaging considerations. o Adapting circuitry for vehicle or ruggedized fixed equipment applications. o Testing, manufacturing processes, quality control, and product marketing requirements. o Making design decisions related to circuit architecture and component selection. o Directing engineers, interns, or technicians as needed. o Strong written and verbal communication skills (English). • Strong hands on lab skills, including use of oscilloscopes, meters, supplies, and debugging tools. • Ability to work 100% onsite in Fargo, ND. ________________________________________ Experience That Will Make You Stand Out • Advanced degree specializing in power electronics (DC DC conversion, AC motor drives). • Experience designing: o Inverters and DC DC converters for 12V/24V/48V systems. o High voltage, isolated power systems up to 800V DC. o Battery management systems (control boards, cell monitoring boards). • Full product development lifecycle experience (concept prototype production). • Designing for harsh or ruggedized environmental specifications (common for OEM customers and off highway equipment). • Knowledge of hybrid/electric vehicle electrical architectures. • Experience with: o MathCAD o Circuit simulation tools o Siemens/Mentor Graphics or similar schematic capture tools o Microcontroller or FPGA based designs • Experience leading the electronic design function within a project team. Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fargo, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $44.00/hr.
