Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

The Electrical Design Engineer II is responsible for executing electrical design, modeling, engineering and power systems activities on industrial/infrastructure projects. These will be heavy industrial and capital projects for the military, and government of Canada.  

Duties & Accountabilities

Provides engineering and design support for electrical power systems by preparing design packages and calculation documents to ensure project and regulatory requirements are met.Develops electrical design documentation such as: Electrical load listsSingle-line diagramsCable schedules and wiring diagramsInstrumentation and controls listsInterface control diagrams and termination diagramsPerforms trade studies—both formal and informal—to identify efficient, cost-effective technical solutions within established material budgets.Develops material specifications and bills of material in alignment with project standards and customer requirements.

Skills, Knowledge & Core Competencies

Strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering principles and power system design.Proven ability to work independently and solve complex technical problems.Above-average analytical skills to gather, validate, and synthesize technical data.Strong technical writing skills, including preparation of specifications, procedures, and engineering reports.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.3+ years of engineering experience in electrical, controls, or instrumentation design.Experience working in a heavy industry, large-scale construction, or industrial manufacturing environment is required.Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams is considered an asset.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
