Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team's design efforts within an Agile environment. Your core tasks will include developing and maintaining electrical drawings for various Ground Systems (GS) IPT hardware systems and their interfaces with facilities.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain electrical drawings for multiple GS IPT hardware systems.Perform analyses in accordance with industry and military standards.Develop rack/system level drawings and maintain these within the PLM system.Evaluate hardware design efforts, schedule, and plan required tasks.Lead small teams and write reports to support milestone reviews.Oversee and coordinate electrical systems design.Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by reviewing designs.Ensure product quality by reviewing electrical designs and validating compliance with current standards.Support the delivery of Electrical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.Conduct structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions and resolve technical issues.Develop and present design change requests, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure configuration control of the technical baseline.Identify risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and execute actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.Develop and mature system designs that meet Weapon System requirements, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.Develop system-level block diagrams, intraconnect/interconnect designs, and cable harness designs.Support reviews of System Performance Specification, PIDS, HRS, and other artifacts via DOORS in a controlled classified area.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.Current active US DoD Secret Security clearance.Ability to support an in-office / closed-area work environment full time.Ability to travel at least 10%.2 years of recent professional experience using a CAD package such as Visio, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO, Siemens Capital Suites (Logic/Harness), or NX.Experience in two or more areas: electrical/power system design, network communication system design, cable harness fabrication design, and electrical load analysis.Experience reviewing engineering specifications, electrical schematics, and/or drawings with the ability to translate customer requirements into specifications.Understanding and application of industry and company electrical engineering technical standards and procedures.Experience evaluating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and military parts for compliance to meet requirements.Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to be a self-starter, team player, able to multi-task, and generate quality work products independently.Ability to communicate data clearly and concisely.Prior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP systems such as SAP.Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills.Experience leading a small project, including task and schedule planning.Mentoring and cross-training junior engineers.Experience generating engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, reports, procedures, and CDRLS.Experience in system engineering areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses.Experience in Visio or Siemens Capital Suites (Logic/Harness).Experience with mission-critical and safety-critical systems.Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards.Familiarity with GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware.Hands-on mentality and a passion for fast-paced environments.Experience using DOORS and/or CAMEO.Certification in IPC-620 Workmanship Standards.Experience with circuit card assembly design and schematic design tools.

Work Environment

The role requires working on-site at a customer facility in a brand new building outside of the Arsenal Gate. The work environment is a collaborative engineering office setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $62.00/hr.
