Electrical Engineer
Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team and lead the design and development of automated test equipment. This role involves the creation and maintenance of various system-level schematics and the integration of electronic test equipment and safety systems. You will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to ensure seamless electromechanical integration and support the deployment of test solutions. Responsibilities + Design automated test equipment, including power distribution, safety circuits, instrumentation, and control interfaces. + Create and maintain system-level schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and BOMs. + Select and specify electrical components to meet electrical, mechanical, thermal, and software requirements. + Design and integrate electronic test equipment, DAQ systems, computers, safety systems, and instrumentation. + Collaborate with Mechanical, Controls, and Automation engineers for clean electromechanical integration. + Support build, bring-up, and checkout of test equipment with technicians and contract manufacturers. + Debug electrical and integration issues during bring-up, validation, and early deployment. + Define and document electrical design standards, wiring practices, and configuration requirements across test systems. + Collaborate with firmware and product teams to integrate hardware, PCBs, and firmware into test solutions. Essential Skills + Proficiency in electrical design using tools such as AutoCAD and any other electrical design tools. + Experience in designing from scratch in a lab or facilities setting. + BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electro-mechanical, Electronic Controls, or equivalent. + Minimum of 3+ years of industry-related experience in designing test equipment, automation controls, electrical panel design, PLC or similar. + Experience selecting electrical components such as e-stops, panel mount passthroughs, terminal blocks, contactors, door switches, and indicator lights. + Ability to size and specify wire schematics and cable assemblies. + Experience in PCB schematics and layout design. + Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems. + Effective communication skills and excellent attention to detail. + Strong time management skills and ability to navigate multiple competing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude. + Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and programmable power supplies. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Familiarity with medium voltage code and design is a plus. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palo Alto, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $73.00/hr.
