We are seeking a hands‑on Electrical Engineer with strong embedded systems expertise to support the design, development, and manufacturing transition of electronic hardware for portable, battery‑powered medical devices. This role sits within a close-knit systems group and will focus heavily on portable, lithium-ion battery-based designs.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable with hardware and firmware development, enjoys working in a collaborative, family‑oriented environment, and can manage multiple engineering tasks from concept through production.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, prototype, test, and transition electronic circuits and systems to manufacturingDevelop and maintain schematic designs, PCB documentation, and fabrication filesSupport the design of cable harnesses and electronic interfacesTroubleshoot and improve existing hardware and firmware designsCollaborate closely with cross‑functional teams on multiple projects simultaneouslyEnsure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability requirementsMust‑Have QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering (BSEE or equivalent)5+ years of experience designing, prototyping, and troubleshooting analog and digital circuitsHands‑on hardware AND firmware design experienceExperience developing firmware in low‑level and higher‑level programming languagesProficiency with microcontroller‑based designs (e.g., ATMega, PIC)Experience with schematic capture and circuit designStrong communication skills and collaborative mindsetAbility to support designs through manufacturing transitionHighly Preferred / Nice to HaveProficiency with OrCAD Capture for schematic designExperience with PCB layout tools (Allegro) or managing outsourced board layoutExperience with 8‑bit microcontrollersFamiliarity with portable, battery‑powered systemsMedical device, commercial electronics, scientific, or defense industryTechnical Skills & ExperienceEmbedded controls and firmware developmentReal‑time analog and digital signal acquisition and processingPCB design and layout supportMotor drive and control systemsOn‑board data loggingDigital interfaces such as USB, I2C, and RS‑232Camera sensor interfacing (preferred)Cable harness and interconnect designWork Environment & CultureFamily‑owned, close‑knit engineering teamHigh collaboration—engineers work closely across disciplinesBusiness‑casual dress codeNew facility with continued company growthStrong opportunity to have long‑term impact as the systems group scalesWhy This Role?Work on cutting‑edge portable lithium‑ion battery designsJoin a growing organization with a supportive, hands‑on cultureContract role with strong potential for extension based on performanceJob Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Ronkonkoma, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
