As an Electrical Designer, you’ll play a critical role on a multi‑disciplinary project team, contributing to the planning, analysis, and design of complex electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects. You’ll have the chance to work end‑to‑end—from concept through construction—while making a visible impact on high‑profile capital projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
+ Design and develop electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, protection and controls, grounding, and site/facility electrical layouts
+ Create and refine electrical schematics, grid plans, wiring diagrams, relay panel schematics, and construction documentation
+ Perform problem analysis, design layouts, and calculations for non‑routine and complex design assignments
+ Apply engineering standards, design codes, and client specifications to ensure high‑quality, compliant designs
+ Execute design updates, redlines, and markups throughout the project lifecycle
+ Review drawings for quality, constructability, scope alignment, budget, and schedule adherence
+ Analyze reports, drawings, and test data to support informed design decisions
+ Prepare conduit, grounding, equipment, and panel wiring takeoffs and volume calculations
+ Maintain organized, accurate project files and revision histories
+ Collaborate directly with clients and internal teams through clear, concise written and verbal communication
+ Participate in occasional site visits to assess existing conditions and support design development
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
+ One of the following:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Drafting or Design with 7+ years of related experience
+ Associate degree with 8+ years of related experience
+ High school diploma with 9+ years of progressive detailing and electrical design experience
+ 5+ years of AutoCAD electrical design experience
+ Advanced proficiency with 2D and 3D design applications for engineering drawings
+ Strong understanding of engineering calculations, electrical systems, and design principles
+ Experience using AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation for electrical design
Preferred Experience
+ Substation design experience
+ Capital project design experience

Work Environment & Culture
+ Consulting and professional engineering firm
+ Team of approximately 15 engineers and project managers based in downtown Lexington
+ Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days work‑from‑home (after onboarding)
+ Business casual environment
+ Light travel only—approximately 5%, primarily local day trips with no overnight stays
+ Highly collaborative atmosphere within the Lexington office and across national teams

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $46.99/hr.
