The Electrical Designer supports project teams through all phases of electrical design, including planning, site evaluations, detailed analysis, report development, and the preparation of proposal and construction documents. This role contributes to a wide variety of project types and client engagements, delivering high-quality electrical design solutions that meet technical, budgetary, and schedule requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign electrical systems for a range of projects, including electrical schematics, grid and layout plans, power distribution systems, lighting systems, protection and control systems, and site and facility designs.Apply company, client, and project-specific design and drafting standards consistently.Plan and develop production drawings, including problem analysis, design layouts, and engineering calculations for complex and non-routine assignments.Execute electrical design tasks using established methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequencing, presentation, system component sizing, and refinement of preliminary sketches.Incorporate design changes and apply redlines or markups to drawings throughout the project lifecycle.Review and analyze reports, drawings, and test data to support project planning and design decisions.Interpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements.Perform quality assurance reviews of design deliverables to ensure scope, budget, and schedule alignment.Complete assigned project tasks within established budgets and deadlines.Prepare conduit and grounding layouts, equipment and panel wiring diagrams, relay panel schematics, and related volume calculations.Maintain organized and accurate records of drawing revisions, plot files, and project documentation.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to support coordination with clients and internal project teams.Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.Required SkillsExtensive experience in electrical and physical design.Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design.Working knowledge of MicroStation, Revit, Inventor, and other related design software.Experience with substation engineering, power delivery systems, and protection and control design.Ability to perform high-voltage and utility electrical design.Experience using conduit and lighting calculation software.Strong understanding of power distribution systems and relay protection.Education and Experience QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; orAssociate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; orHigh school diploma with a minimum of 9 years of progressive detailing and electrical design experience.Minimum of 7 years of AutoCAD design experience.Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D design applications for engineering drawings and layouts.Solid understanding of engineering calculations, design principles, and design systems.Experience with substation and capital project design is preferred.Job Type & Location

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39.00 - $46.99/hr.
