** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Electrical Designer to fill a contract assignment in the Birmingham, AL/ Remote area.


This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Job Title: Electrical Designer 2

Work Location: Birmingham, AL

                        *The manager will accept remote candidates as well

Required PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Shoes, Eye Protection, Vest

Requirements: 5-7 years of related experience An associate degree in electrical engineering, electrical design, or a related field A bachelor's degree is a plus Experience with detail design of battery systems, chargers, inverters, UPS, and DC Fuse Panels Seven or more years with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and CAD Overlay and experience Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design Experience with PLC programming and control systems is a plus Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and design practices Capable of preparing single line, elementary, and wiring diagrams with little oversight Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE) Ability to travel to plants within the Company footprints Effective communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality electrical designs Ability to collaborate within a team and with project stakeholders The ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors Work with a team and independently
Job responsibilities: Collaborating with project teams to understand electrical design requirements and objectives Develop electrical designs, including system layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks Electrical) to create and modify electrical drawings, maintain proficiency in design software and stay updated on software enhancements Designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, building systems, automation, or other applications Specify and select electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring that electrical designs adhere to industry standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements Conduct code reviews and updates as necessary Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers and architects to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs Addressing design-related issues and provide design solutions Creating and maintaining organized documentation of electrical designs, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) Preparing technical reports and documentation for project deliverables Performing quality checks and reviews of electrical designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project goals Travel for meetings and field inspections
