Electrical Design Technologist
Job Title: Electrical Design TechnologistJob Description

As an Electrical Design Technologist, you will be an integral part of a team engaged in an exciting defense-related naval program. Your primary focus will be on developing cable and harness design solutions that support secure communication links for naval operators.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare or review project deliverables such as plans, reports, and drawings within areas of technical knowledge.Develop cable/harness design solutions to meet specific design requirements.Create power and system functional/block drawings and wiring diagrams.Create complex working cable drawings and interpret hardware design documents.Analyze and interpret schematic drawings, mechanical drawings annotated with tolerances, symbols, and industry standards to build cables/harnesses or arrange systems.Apply knowledge of Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) issues to assist with cable design, bonding, and grounding principles.Build parts Bill Of Materials (BOMs) and respond to obsolescence as required.Support the Production team during New Product Integration (NPI) stages.Conduct ongoing research of new materials and suppliers to strengthen the supply chain.Assist with configuration management processes for engineering changes.Essential Skills2-5 years of experience as an Electrical Technologist.Proficiency in developing electrical drawings such as cable assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams.Experience with electrical CAD tools like AutoCAD Electrical.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience or a diploma from an accredited college and 2 years of relevant experience.Experience designing systems with environmental considerations, including mechanical shock, vibration, humidity, dust protection, thermal management, and EMI/EMC compliance.Knowledge of MIL-STD and MIL-Spec (810, MIL-STD 461/464, MIL-STD 901/167).Understanding of design to cost principles and design for manufacturability and assembly principles.Results-oriented self-starter.Work Environment
