Job Title: Electrical Controls Engineer

Job Description

Design electrical and control systems based on sales quotations and customer specifications. Coordinate and schedule assigned projects with all internal departments. Communicate project specifications and deadlines with external parties, including suppliers, assemblers, installation contractors, engineering firms, and freight forwarders. Engage directly with customers to coordinate design or delivery. Develop and design custom electrical equipment, and create or revise drawings and documentation for electrical, automation, and process disciplines. Write PLC code according to project specifications and internal standards. Develop HMI and SCADA solutions using software packages such as Rockwell or Wonderware. Document the Sequence of Operations, develop installation and purchasing specifications, and create bills of material. Select and purchase capital equipment, conduct quality control, and ensure conformance to design, equipment, software specifications, and safety standards. Maintain project costs within the budget, oversee onsite commissioning, installation supervision, and customer training, and inspect completed installations. Diagnose equipment, software, or materials for root cause analysis of problems or defects.

Essential Skills

Expertise in PLC programming, process control, and PLC/HMI Programming with Allen Bradley.Strong experience in Electrical Engineering, including component selection, layout, and motor control.Experience in electrical design and drafting techniques.Proficiency in programming knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.Proven experience in commissioning and troubleshooting.Experience with electrical and automation design concepts.Knowledge of electrical motors and power distribution.Familiarity with the NEC code.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program preferred.Minimum of 4 years of training in engineering technology or a related technical degree.3-5 years of experience in related areas such as electrical control and automation systems.Experience with digital and analog instrumentation.Experience with technical drawing development and practices.Working knowledge of material handling processes.Experience with pneumatic devices and circuitry.

Work Environment

This role is based in a smaller company environment with approximately 40 employees at the north of White Bear Lake location. The work schedule is flexible, ideally starting onsite for the first few months to facilitate learning and team interaction. The position requires 25-30% travel.

This is a Permanent position based out of White Bear Lake, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
