Job Description
The Electrical BIM Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the design and coordination of electrical systems by developing accurate, data-rich Building Information Models (BIM). This position requires close collaboration with engineers, designers, and project managers to produce detailed drawings, maintain model integrity, and ensure seamless interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technologically adept, and thrives in a fast-paced project environment. This role focuses primarily on the design and modeling of electrical systems for a variety of projects including healthcare, government, higher education, and multi-family developments across the country.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain 3D electrical models using Revit and other BIM tools.Produce construction-ready drawings, including plans, sections, details, and schedules.Coordinate electrical models with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other trade models to identify and resolve clashes.Implement and follow company BIM standards, templates, and workflows.Assist in creating and managing project-specific BIM execution plans.Support engineers and designers by preparing layouts, diagrams, and documentation.Perform quality checks to ensure model accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.Participate in coordination meetings and contribute to model-based problem-solving.Maintain organized digital files and ensure proper version control.Provide input on process improvements and emerging BIM technologies.Essential Skills
5+ years of BIM experience within electrical system design.Proficiency in Revit for modeling MEP systems.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Understanding of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing design principles within building systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in design development and construction documentation.Knowledge of BIM modeling for piping systems.Work Environment
The office is modern and recently renovated, offering a collaborative and open-concept atmosphere with cubicles and glass-walled offices. Located downtown, the office provides ample street parking and access to a parking garage. The facility includes an on-site gym and is undergoing expansion. The dress code is business casual. The position operates on a first shift with flexible start and end times between 7-9 AM to 4-6 PM. Potential for hybrid work exists after the first 90 days. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.06/hr.
