Job SummaryThe Assistant Project Manager at Miller Electric reports directly to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. This is a client‑facing role that requires the ability to build strong relationships both in and out of the office. The core responsibility of an Assistant Project Manager is to learn through on‑the‑job experience, peer‑to‑peer engagement, and technical training.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist in estimating project scope and costs. Manage projects with subcontractors. Communicate with clients and subcontractors. Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required. Research and prepare change requests to resolve design issues for approval. Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions. Monitor field work and/or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes. Assist with the submittal process, including preparation, tracking, distribution, and follow‑up. Perform document control duties, including: Managing project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, meeting minutes, and change orders. Ensuring all documents are current, properly filed, and distributed to relevant stakeholders. Maintaining version control of drawings and project files. Updating logs and tracking documentation through approval of workflows. Supporting project teams by organizing and maintaining electronic and physical project files. Assist in the tracking and completion of billing. Qualifications
REQUIRED
A college degree, journeyman’s license, or master electrician’s license. A strong understanding of electrical installations. Strong computer skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.PREFERRED
Experience in industrial construction/contracting. Electrical contracting assistant project management experience. Familiarity with computer‑based estimating. Knowledge of billing and collections.
