Elastic Engineer
Job Description Insight Global is hiring an Elastic Search Engineer for one of our large consulting clients. This role will sit remotely in India. Elastic Platform Engineering -Design, implement, and maintain Elasticsearch SaaS clusters, indexes, pipelines, snapshots, and supporting infrastructure. -Build and maintain custom and out‑of‑box connectors for ingestion. -Manage multi‑environment setups (dev, QA, stage, prod) including deployments, version upgrades, and release governance. -Implement and operate CI/CD pipelines for Elasticsearch resources (index templates, ingestion pipelines, connectors, transforms, etc.). Search Enablement & Optimization -Perform relevancy tuning for lexical and semantic search (BM25, hybrid retrieval, embeddings, vector search). -Conduct performance benchmarking, load testing, and adjust shard strategy, routing, and indexing throughput. -Work closely with feature teams to design optimal retrieval workflows (RAG, vector similarity, query rewriting, synonyms, re‑rankers). Operational Ownership -Monitor clusters (latency, heap usage, GC patterns, indexing/backpressure), manage alerts, and drive root‑cause analysis. -Respond to platform issues across time zones; communicate findings, timelines, and resolutions clearly to stakeholders. -Ensure adherence to platform standards, IaC, release versioning, and audit/compliance requirements. Cross‑Team Collaboration -Partner with Product Owners, architecture, backend, QA, and data teams across global time zones. -Provide platform guidance, best practices, and onboarding support to application teams using search. -Track progress, share updates, and proactively highlight risks and dependencies. Additional Context -Team operates across multiple global time zones; role requires overlap with US East Coast. -Work involves both platform engineering and search‑quality ownership. -Strong communication, ownership mindset, and ability to work independently within a distributed environment is essential. Compensation: $20.00/hr to $22.00/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Skills and Requirements -6+ years Elasticsearch development & support, preferably Elastic Cloud/SaaS. --Custom & OOTB connectors --Customized ingestion pipelines --Index template creation & lifecycle management --Relevancy tuning & search performance optimization -4–6 years of AWS experience, including IAM, networking, EKS/EC2, S3, Lambda/SQS, or cloud‑native integration patterns. -Strong experience operating multi‑environment releases and CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.). -Ability to coordinate across multiple squads, raise blockers, provide status updates, and work across US–India time zones. -3–4 years of Python development --Data ingestion, ETL, automation scripts --Search‑related tooling (vectorization, embeddings, data prep) -3–4 years of Java API development --Backend services integrating Elasticsearch -Experience with vector databases, semantic search, hybrid retrieval, embedding pipelines, or RAG workflows. -Familiarity with DevOps tooling, observability stacks, and IaC (Terraform). -Prior experience working in distributed global teams or GenAI‑adjacent search platforms.
