EHS Specialist I
Job Title: EHS Specialist I Summary The EHS Specialist I supports plant-wide compliance with federal and local Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations. The role ensures safe operations by implementing internal procedures, global EHS policies, and OSHA standards. Key Responsibilities + Implement Chemical Process Safety Program elements. + Develop and deliver EHS training. + Lead fire, spill, and medical incident investigations. + Support Safety Committee initiatives. + Maintain safety criteria for plant operations. + Conduct EHS self-assessments and risk assessments. + Develop EHS procedures and compliance programs. + Manage regulatory reporting, documentation, and audits. + Provide EHS guidance across all plant departments. Required Skills & Experience + Strong knowledge of Safety and OSHA regulations. + Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Science, or Industrial Safety. + 6+ years of combined EHS program and compliance experience. + Experience leading risk assessments and incident investigations. + Skilled in delivering Safety and Environmental training. + Strong analytical, evaluation, and problem‑solving abilities. + Proficient with computers and data systems. + Ability to work flexible hours and travel. Additional Qualifications + Knowledge of Quality regulations (e.g., FDA, Quality Systems). + Familiarity with NIOSH, ANSI, and industry standards. + Experience with safety devices and process safety equipment. + Prior work with corporate EHS teams, inspectors, and industry groups. + Understanding of Environmental Control Systems. Work Environment Work is mainly in an industrial setting with daily interaction across plant teams. Duties include escorting inspectors, maintaining compliance records, and working flexible or off‑shift hours with occasional travel. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
