Role Definition:
To serve as an individual contributor on Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) projects and assignments that support and enhance Caterpillar facility performance and compliance.
Responsibilities:
Industrial Hygiene ManagementOversee programs for general industrial hygiene, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and heat protection.Develop and maintain comprehensive sampling plans and exposure monitoring processes.Ensure timely communication of exposure results to employees in compliance with regulatory requirements.Silica GovernanceImplement and manage silica exposure monitoring and control programs.Maintain documentation of historical exposure data and engineering controls.Define and train teams on silica demarcation zones and housekeeping standards.Chemical & Hazardous Material ManagementAdminister hazardous chemical approval processes and related employee training.Establish labeling and auditing processes for hazardous materials and piping systems.Deliver department-level training on chemical hazards and protective measures.Heat Protection Program: Develop and update heat stress prevention programs, including work/rest schedules and visual indicators for heat advisory conditions.Noise & Hearing Conservation: Manage hearing conservation initiatives to ensure compliance and employee participation in annual testing.Lasers & Radiation Safety: Ensure annual training for employees working with lasers and coordinate onboarding requirements with training teams.Asbestos Management: Conduct required asbestos audits and maintain accurate documentation in alignment with legal requirements.Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, Health, & Safety, or other relevant programs.Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.Top Candidates will also have:
Experience in a Heavy Manufacturing Environment.Working knowledge of chemical properties, handling protocols, and hazard classifications (e.g., SDS interpretation, GHS/OSHA labeling requirements).Familiarity with industrial hygiene principles, including exposure assessment, air monitoring, noise measurement, and control strategies.Ability to collaborate with EHS teams to implement controls (engineering, administrative, PPE) for chemical or hygiene related risks.Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
