EHS Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to join our team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position involves working on-site during the 2nd shift, with the option of four 10-hour shifts or a flexible arrangement of four 9-hour shifts and a half-day on Friday. The role is essential in implementing and maintaining Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist with the implementation of EHS policies, practices, guidelines, and procedures, identifying location-specific requirements and developing related programs.Develop training programs and conduct sessions to comply with corporate EHS initiatives.Supervise incident and accident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and ensure completion of corrective actions.Conduct EHS audits and risk assessments, and participate in external compliance and loss prevention audits.Coordinate corrective actions with site personnel following audits and risk assessments.Collaborate with facilities maintenance and property management to ensure fire and life safety controls are in place and maintained.Oversee and implement permitting requirements for air, water, and land jurisdictional needs.Serve as a contact point for governmental inquiries related to EHS.

Essential Skills

3-5 years of experience as a Safety Engineer, preferably in manufacturing large equipment, CNC, and heavy fabrication.Strong people and communication skills to work across all departments.Experience with machinery safety lock-out/tag-out procedures.Environmental experience managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste.Bachelor's degree in a related field.Knowledge of health and safety engineering processes and practices.Familiarity with ISO environment regulations and principles.Ability to evaluate and minimize physical and chemical hazards.Awareness of regulatory changes and the ability to apply best practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Union facility experience is a plus.Strong teamwork and project leadership abilities.Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Effective management and multitasking capabilities.

Work Environment

The position is based in a full manufacturing assembly plant with extensive use of machines and robotics. As a union facility, the role requires interaction with all departments and minimal direct leadership during the 2nd shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lexington, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $38.46/hr.
