Position: Day-time Trainer (Electrical construction / education)
Reports to: Education and Training Manager
Primary Function:
The Day-time Trainer conducts pre-apprenticeship classes and related safety-related training and assists the Education and Training Manager in the day-to-day operations of a nationally recognized electrical apprenticeship program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct a variety of pre-apprenticeship classes to introduce students to the electrical trade. Teach basic electrical skills. Organize and conduct safety and trade-specific training classes including OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, First-Aid / CPR. Coordinates with the Education and Training Manager and Instructors to design, construct, and equip teaching labs. Ensure labs are fully operational and supplied. Ensure classrooms and labs are organized and supplied for evening instruction. Maintains an inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the school year. Liaison with vocational and technical schools to promote interests of IEC members. Participates in chapter-hosted events including skills competitions, annual graduation ceremony, golf-outings, etcetera.Qualifications
Interested candidates must have a High School degree and at least four years’ construction experience as an Electrical Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code is also required.
Must have planning, organizing, communication and interpersonal skills. Schedule flexibility is essential, must be able to work one or two evenings during the school year.
Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds 30 feet.
