OLV Human Services is seeking a dedicated Education Facilitator to provide instruction and educational support to youth at the Erie County Secure Youth Detention Center. Job Summary: The Education Facilitator will work under the direct or indirect supervision of a certified teacher and/or administrator. They will supervise the use of tablets with education software in a classroom. This includes ensuring students are logged on to the tablet and working on their assignments which are provided through the education software. Previous classroom experience and a focus on positive classroom management skills are required. Essential Job Duties: + Keep students on track and focused + Records attendance + Maintain Student roster in the education software platform + Documents grades + Maintains a positive attitude and relationship with the teachers and administrator + Helps foster an atmosphere conducive to learning + Serves as an appropriate role model to students + Respects confidentiality of information about students + Contributes to a positive emotional climate within the classroom + Helps students to improve their sense of responsibility, self-discipline, cooperation and respect for others. + Participates in designated staff meetings + Seeks to communicate problems or concerns in a constructive manner to the teacher or supervisor + Manages, secures and assists in the inventorying of records, materials and equipment + Assists teacher in performing other clerical duties as needed + Any other duty as assigned by your Supervisor. Skills: Strong classroom management skills. Technologically savvy. Ability to multi-task. Note this position is through OLV Human Services but located in the Erie County Juvenile Detention Center. It is a 12 month position with the same school breaks as Buffalo Public Schools. Minimum Education Required: High School or Equivalent, Associates Preferred Minimum Experience Required: At least one year of experience in a classroom setting License/Registration/ Certifications Required: Teaching Assistant certification preferred. Training Requirements: + New Hire Orientation Physical Requirements: The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required.
