The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) Literacy Unit is looking for an Education Consultant 3 – READ Act Multilingual Literacy Specialist to join the Literacy team. This position will manage the implementation of READ Act activities related to Multilingual Learners including students with English learner (EL) status and Dual Language Immersion programs. Collaborate across the divisions, state agencies, and with external partners to ensure the selection of evidence-based and linguistically responsive practices and resources are appropriate for multilingual learner instructional settings and to align practices and resources to the Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Support (MnMTSS) framework. Additional duties include ensuring the development and delivery of cohesive guidance, professional learning, and flexible support for all districts, charter schools and schools within the COMPASS statewide system and will build the capacity of the Regional Literacy Network Leads and Coaches to support implementation statewide. **This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 50 or more miles away, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance are eligible to telework up to 100% of the time.** **Minimum Qualifications** This position requires five (5) years of combined professional experience as a Literacy teacher and Administrator of Literacy education programs within an education setting; a master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience administrating Literacy education programs and grants at the state or district level. + Experience in providing official guidance around Literacy to schools and districts, specific to multilingual learners. + Experience in Dual Language Immersion programs. + Experience developing and facilitating professional development for K–12 educators, specific to multilingual learners. + Experience teaching Literacy Education to all students, with an emphasis on multilingual learners and students with disabilities. **Additional Requirements** A job offer will be contingent upon successfully passing a background check.
