Bloomberg LP has built a significant media business spanning television, digital, magazine, radio and live event platforms across the globe. In the midst of a historic time in the media industry, Bloomberg Media is growing its global footprint and reach through new innovations from Bloomberg Originals to New Economy Forum.
We're looking for a highly skilled, experienced Story Editor to join its podcast team on a 12-month contract. In this 45-hour-per-week role, you will be instrumental in shaping The Big Take podcast franchise, which includes a daily news show and a weekly magazine show. This franchise focuses on original, global and financial news, with a special emphasis on Asian business, finance and geopolitics. You will collaborate closely with a large, global team of producers, reporters, and editors across Bloomberg's newsroom, under the guidance of the Executive Producer.
**We’ll trust you to:**
+ Oversee and ensure the factual accuracy, journalistic integrity and sophisticated narrative structure of all The Big Take episodes.
+ Collaborate with the Executive Producer, Deputy and hosts on critical decisions regarding journalism, ethics and high-level storytelling.
+ Line-edit episodes rigorously and make final editorial calls on all journalistic and audio production elements.
+ Proactively pitch and develop complex episodes with producers, Bloomberg reporters, and show leadership.
+ Mentor and train show producers on advanced journalistic standards and best practices for narrative audio writing.
**You’ll need to have:**
+ Minimum of 5 years of senior editing experience, coupled with 8 or more years in journalism.
+ Demonstrated expertise in complex narrative storytelling is essential.
+ Exceptional news judgment and a sharp editorial ear for impactful audio
+ Significant prior audio editing experience in a fast-paced newsroom or similar high-level environment
+ Thoughtfulness, flexibility and decisiveness in high-stakes editorial decision-making
+ A strong desire to work collaboratively and a proven ability to mentor and elevate the skills of production staff.
