Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. With its friendly atmosphere, safe environment, and progressive spirit, Lenox is a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

This is a night role (Schedule example below) 12-hour shift 2-3-2

SUMMARY:   

The E & I Tech provides both Electrical Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant, executing with excellence and assisting critical electrical/instrumentation asset health improvement efforts. The E&I Tech will ensure results while partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team, equipment suppliers, and all other plant support teams members for success. The E&I Tech focus responsibilities are assistance, development, and execution of electrical/instrumentation PM, PDM, RCM, Precision CM, and Operator Care Programs. Other duties will include electrical/instrumentation equipment installation, troubleshooting adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects. The E&I Tech will carry and keep current any regulatory required licensure (i.e., Electrical Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician). This position is responsible for complying with Safety work rules and for reinforcing Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability. This role must be available to work scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.    

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Participate with electrical/instrumentation maintenance team members and tasks to ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost, are continuously being improved to achieve company objectives. Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture.  Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques ensuring procedural compliance and that job tolerances are met Identify, develop, and implement critical electrical/instrumentation maintenance and performance improvement projects  Work with Corporate Reliability Team to develop, implement, and review real time condition assessment data for all critical electrical/instrumentation equipment  Actively participate in critical electrical/instrumentation equipment maintenance training for maintenance personnel  Actively participate in following reliability procedures for critical electrical/instrumentation spares and parts  Actively participate in following quality commissioning procedures for critical rebuilt or new electrical/instrumentation equipment  Work with vendors in addressing critical electrical/instrumentation issues identified through root cause and condition-based maintenance programs   Actively participate and assist craftsman during critical electrical/instrumentation maintenance assignments Actively participate in electrical/instrumentation troubleshooting tasks while assisting other plant personnel in a teaching environment  Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support electrical/instrumentation reliability reporting and decision making. This will be accomplished through the guidance of MFI ARM standards.  Keep accurate and up-to-date records (i.e., SAP data, critical equipment, regulatory documentation etc..). Provides input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement.  Actively holds and sustains regulatory required licensure related to electrical/instrumentation (i.e., Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician) and performs required duties to statute expectations Understands NEC code to a journeyman level and demonstrates accordingly Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles.  Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors. Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Always ensure required regulatory compliance.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent   Associate's degree, two-year technical certificate, or relevant combination of experience which demonstrates electrical/instrumentation technical and leadership aptitude (preferred) 3 to 5 years of experience as a maintenance electrician with an emphasis on industry or manufacturing preferred Trained and competent in MFI MEL1 skills preferred Electrical license or electrical/instrumentation certification required per regional or national regulations Trained in NEC code to a journeyman level preferred Journeyman understanding of mechanical and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific electronics diagrams Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred Prior experience in SAP preferred Ability to interact with all levels of the organization  Excellent written and verbal communication skills  Excellent administrative and follow-up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs.
