E-Commerce Billing Consultant
Job Description
An early-stage startup is seeking an experienced Small Business Accounting & AWS Billing Consultant to modernize their accounting processes, streamline billing operations, and advise on best-in-class automation practices. The ideal consultant will have hands-on experience guiding startups through accounting system transitions, implementing billing tools, and integrating financial processes with AWS usage and cost-tracking.
Responsibilities
Assess current accounting workflows (QuickBooks, Excel, third-party firm) and identify gaps impacting cash flow, billing timeliness, and financial accuracy.Design and implement improved systems to provide better cash-flow visibility, billing predictability, and automation.Develop and build a scalable billing operations function, including processes for invoicing, collections, and revenue tracking.Recommend and implement billing and payment tools (e.g., Bill.com, Stripe, Square, or others appropriate for e-commerce/SaaS startup environments).Evaluate and integrate financial tools with AWS services, including advising on AWS usage and cost-tracking solutions, AWS-compatible billing automation tools, and software stack options to support financial operations on AWS.Provide insight into how and when the business will be paid, improving customer billing cycles and payment transparency.Create reporting mechanisms, dashboards, and documentation for ongoing financial operations.Partner with leadership to ensure the systems built will support long-term scale and operational maturity.Essential Skills
Demonstrated consulting experience with a project list; agency or consulting firm background required.Prior work advising startups, especially those leveraging AWS for infrastructure or billing.Hands-on experience building or improving billing teams, e-commerce billing systems, and automated invoicing, payment processing, and collections workflows.Strong knowledge of AWS billing, AWS cost-management tools, and integration options.Expertise with common accounting and billing platforms, such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, Stripe, Square, and other SaaS/e-commerce financial tools.Strong Excel skills and comfort working with existing manual processes before redesign.Ability to diagnose financial bottlenecks, especially those related to cash-flow constraints.Excellent communication skills and comfort advising founders/leadership teams.Work Environment
The position is 100% remote, providing flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75.00 - $100.00/hr.
