Summary
Be responsible for training drivers to load, unload, and deliver dressed poultry, oil, hopper, drayage, and contract backhauls and other inbound and out bound products and materials to plants, customers, and distributors. Driver Trainer needs to be willing to train in both OTR / Regional Short Haul capacities.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Train drivers to load, unload, and deliver dressed poultry, meal, refined oil, contract backhauls and other inbound and outbound products and materials to plants, customers, and distributors as assignedTeach drivers how to observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements regarding hours of service, logbook, vehicle inspections, load inspections, safety inspections and securing loadTrain drivers on how to operate a tractor and trailer in a safe manner consistent with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations, and Company policiesTeach drivers on how to conduct pre and post vehicle inspections and complete reports as required by Company policies.Train drivers on how to complete all Company paperwork to include but not limited to pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damaged claims, and trip reportsTeach drivers to how to understand and use the telephone, voice response, and satellite system in order to communicate with customers, dispatchers, and supervisory personnel. Perform other task as assigned by supervisor. Participate in continuous safety / leadership training provided by PerdueBrand Ambassador with monitoring drivers’ pre-trip / post-trip inspections and supporting company guidelines with enforcing PPE / Dress Code Requirements Support with New Hire Orientation – Facilitation of material for new hire drivers both in classroom and driver settings Ambassador will coach drivers when neededConduct safety evaluations A trainer will be a safety champion – recognize safety hazards and address them with leadershipSuccess criteria will be based on knowledge of safety information, safety regulations and proceduresAmbassador will be a positive influence, mentor, and support to help retain traineesMinimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent
