Job Title: Drafter
Job Description
This position supports a long-term grid-resiliency initiative aimed at reducing storm-related power outages by relocating the most outage-prone overhead tap lines underground. The goal is to convert 4,000 miles of overhead lines to underground systems to improve reliability and streamline restoration efforts following severe weather. As a CAD Specialist/Drafter, you will work closely with the right-of-way and design teams to produce plat exhibits using AutoCAD. These exhibits visually represent the project parcel(s) for underground and/or overhead distribution easement documents.
Responsibilities
Draft necessary easements along the proposed cable route.Ensure all spelling, title blocks, addresses, property ownership, and parcel numbers are correct.Review work and complete quality control checklists.Submit work to supervisor for final approval.Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD and drafting.Experience with underground utilities and telecom is a plus.Ability to proofread and perform quality control on work.Experience or schooling in Drafting or Design.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Interest in entering the Energy and Utility industry.Ability to be badged by the client, including passing a screening and drug test.Work Environment
The work environment is primarily office-based with occasional field visits for data collection or validation. The position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence during training. Once productive and efficient, you will have two remote workdays each week, with the flexibility to choose one day and Friday being the second.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.80/hr.
