The New York College of Podiatric Medicine is seeking a dynamic and experienced Podiatrist to join the Surgery department. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, be comfortable speaking in front of large audiences, and exhibit qualities of engagement, approachability, patience, and kindness. The Podiatrist will play a vital role in educating and mentoring students as well as residents in the field of Podiatric Medicine.
Responsibilities Adherence to Time and Effort ScheduleService on a minimum of 2 College or Clinic committeesEstablish a regular schedule for student academic consultation and performance evaluationProvision of administrative assistance to immediate supervisor as requestedPreparation and submission of a syllabus for the didactic material in your course, including lesson plans (stating knowledge objectives), coordinated skill objectives and required reading materialsPreparation and submission of a current curriculum vitae each yearPreparation and administration of interim, final and make-up examinations in accordance with College policiesAdherence to the College policies on grading as stated in the Faculty Handbook and Student HandbookProvision of all grades to the Registrar's Office in a timely fashionNotification of the Dean of Student Services, on that day, in the event that a student is absent from classes or clinical rotations on three consecutive calendar days or for two consecutive meetings for classes/rotations that do not meet dailyProvision, as needs demand, of reserve time for individual student conferences/tutoring timeAdvise interested students regarding independent research and/or provision of such advice in your area of expertiseAttendance and participation at Grand Rounds and Clinical Pathological Conferences (where applicable)Distinguish one's self within his/her profession, via one or more of the following activities: publication in recognized scientific conferences; publication in recognized scientific texts/journals; funded research or research approved by the College Peer Review Committee; other scholarly works; on a yearly basisAttendance at all required faculty and division meetingsAdvise immediate supervisor of all emergency and known absence dates from scheduled dutiesParticipation in personal evaluation processes and remediation, as requiredAdhere to the Faculty Dress Code as stated in the Faculty HandbookAttend the Graduation Ceremony, White Coat Ceremony and Annual RetreatProvide academic or clinical coverage outside of normal scheduled hours for non-emergency assignments when given reasonable advance noticeProvide academic or clinical coverage for all emergency assignmentsBecome proficient in the utilization of educational and clinical technology products acquired by the College or Clinic for use in its programsParticipation in College recruitment presentations, Admission interviews and Open House events, when feasibleCarry out the general responsibilities of full-time faculty, ie, to promote the sound development of your respective duties in keeping with the mission, goals and objectives of the New York College of Podiatric MedicineClinical faculty may be assigned for patient care at any of the affiliated hospitals or clinics Qualifications Education/ExperienceDoctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree.Must have completed an approved Podiatric residency programMust be Board CertifiedNYS License and current DEA CertificateKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesStrong attention to details requiredEffectively manage and organize daily tasks, independently and with a team, while balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines requiredAccuracy and productivity in completing tasks requiredA high degree of interpersonal competency: professionalism, diplomacy, judgement, and discretion requiredDemonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues requiredAbility to solve complex problems and meet deadlines requiredDemonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal) requiredTravelMay be assigned for patient care at any of the affiliated hospitals or clinics.
