Residential Advisor – Miami Job Corps Center Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for guiding and supporting young people? Miami Job Corps Center is seeking a dynamic Residential Advisor to help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive residential environment where students can thrive academically and personally. As a Residential Advisor, you will play a vital role in creating a “home away from home” for students by building strong relationships, fostering community, and providing mentorship and guidance in the residential setting. Shifts Available 2nd Shift: + Sunday through Thursday + 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM + Off Friday & Saturday 3rd Shift: + Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM + Monday: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM + Tuesday & Wednesday: 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM + Off Thursday & Friday Key Responsibilities + Student Mentorship: Serve as a positive role model, supporting students with personal development, goal setting, and decision-making. + Community Building: Promote an inclusive residential community through activities, events, and group discussions. + Crisis Intervention: Respond appropriately to emergencies or crisis situations, ensuring student safety and well-being. + Conflict Resolution: Address student conflicts with empathy and professionalism to maintain a positive living environment. + Policy Enforcement: Uphold residential policies and procedures to ensure a safe, clean, and respectful community. + Life Skills Development: Assist students with essential life skills such as time management, budgeting, and communication. + Collaboration: Work closely with fellow Residential Advisors, academic staff, and support services to support student success. Responsible for providing proper guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the Job Corps program. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred. A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience required. A valid in-State Driver’s License preferred. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance. Qualifications Key Responsibilities + Provide guidance to students to promote a positive attitude, appropriate behavior, and successful dormitory living while supporting achievement of personal goals and objectives. + Determine, recommend, and coordinate student referrals to counselors as needed. + Assist with designated unit activities, including participation in unit government. + Patrol and monitor dormitories and center grounds as required to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior; proactively address and resolve potential or active issues. + Prepare daily operations reports, pass lists, and other administrative documentation related to students. + Direct and assist students with the cleaning and maintenance of dormitory facilities. + Recommend or requisition supplies necessary to meet dormitory living needs and ensure student safety. + Maintain dormitory and individual student files, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date. + Enter and maintain student case notes in the center’s information system. + Support the Career Development Services (CDS) system by fostering a safe living environment and promoting positive peer leadership and role modeling within the dormitory. + Provide guidance, counseling, group sessions, and instruction in independent living skills. + Work overtime when directed, as operational needs require. + Maintain regular and predictable attendance. + Deliver positive, high-quality customer service to students, staff, and other center stakeholders. + Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy. + Promote career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring student conduct through positive and corrective interventions. + Perform other duties as assigned.
